Position Summary

The Mining Engineer will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing mineral resources in line with the company's growth objectives. The role involves conducting field investigations, sampling, geological mapping, data analysis, and preparing technical reports and presentations. The engineer will design exploration strategies, optimize drilling/trenching programs, support permitting requirements, and provide investment recommendations based on findings. This position requires strong technical expertise in geology, practical field experience, proficiency in exploration software, and the ability to work in challenging environments while ensuring compliance and safety standards.

Job ResponsibilitiesExploration & Geological Work

  • Search for and evaluate mineral vein resources that align with company development needs.
  • Conduct fieldwork including geological mapping, site investigation, sampling, geochemical logging, and sample analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports, maps, cross-sections, and presentations on exploration findings.
  • Provide technical and investment recommendations based on exploration results.
  • Oversee technical aspects of mining-related exploration activities, including drilling and trenching design.
  • Ensure proper sample handling, QA/QC procedures, and data integrity.

Permitting, Compliance & Regulatory Coordination (Mineral Engineering Responsibilities)

  • Assist in securing exploration, drilling, environmental, and mining-related permits from relevant government agencies (DENR-MGB, LGUs, NCIP, EMB, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with Philippine mining laws, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
  • Prepare technical documents and compliance reports required for permits, renewals, and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate with government inspectors, auditors, and regulatory bodies during site visits.
  • Support the preparation of Environmental Work Programs (EWP), Annual Safety and Health Program (ASHP), and other mandatory filings.
  • Monitor and document environmental impacts, rehabilitation initiatives, and community relations requirements.
  • Maintain organized records of permits, certificates, compliance reports, and geological documents.

Safety & Field Operations

  • Apply field survival skills and risk-avoidance practices while working in remote environments.
  • Ensure implementation of safety protocols during field activities and drilling operations.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and support emergency response plans.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, environmental, community relations, and management.
  • Communicate findings clearly through technical reports, presentations, and briefings.
  • Provide support to project managers and senior engineers on long-term exploration planning and resource evaluation.

Other Duties

  • Perform other exploration, mineral engineering, and technical tasks necessary for company development.

Qualifications

1. Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Mining Engineering, Mineral Exploration, Geochemistry, Geophysics, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years field exploration experience, including mapping, sampling, and drilling programs.
  • Experience in research institutes, large state-owned enterprises, or foreign mining companies is highly preferred.
  • Registered Mining Engineer (ME), or Exploration Engineer is an advantage.

2. Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong foundation in mineralogy, petrology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and ore deposit geology.
  • Knowledge of ore deposit models (porphyry copper, skarn, epithermal/hydrothermal gold, etc.).
  • Skilled in geological mapping, geochemical/geophysical exploration, and remote sensing interpretation.
  • Proficient in GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS); familiarity with 3D modeling software (Surpac, Leapfrog, Micromine) preferred.
  • Understanding of Philippine mining permitting processes and environmental compliance requirements.

3. Field & Safety

  • Strong physical fitness and ability to work in remote field environments.
  • Knowledge of field safety, risk avoidance, and basic first aid.

4. Problem-Solving & Analysis

  • Ability to integrate field data with geological models for interpretation.
  • Capable of designing cost-effective drilling and trenching layouts.

5. Soft Skills & Communication

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Good command of English or Chinese for reporting and technical literature.
  • Familiarity with JORC or NI standards is preferred.
