Reports To: Land Management Head
Job Summary:
The Land External Affairs Officer serves as the primary liaison between the company, local communities, government agencies, and other external stakeholders regarding land acquisition, access, and use. The role focuses on building trust, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting land negotiations, and fostering positive relationships that enable smooth project development and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with communities, traditional authorities, landowners, and government entities to facilitate land access and acquisition processes.
- Represent the company in public consultations, community meetings, and stakeholder forums related to land issues.
- Support negotiations and agreements with landowners and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with legal and company policies.
- Monitor and manage community concerns or grievances related to land and project activities, ensuring timely and transparent resolution.
- Maintain strong working relationships with local government officials, regulatory bodies, and traditional leadership.
- Provide input to land acquisition strategies, stakeholder engagement plans, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Land Administration, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in external affairs, stakeholder engagement, or land access roles.
- Strong knowledge of land rights, local governance structures, and community dynamics.
- Experience working with government agencies, traditional authorities, and local communities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both local and official languages.
- Familiarity with relevant land and environmental regulations.
