About the Role

We're seeking a Remote Electrical & HVAC Estimator to join our growing estimating team. In this role, you will prepare accurate, detailed, and competitive estimates for a variety of residential and commercial projects — including pool electrical systems, generator installations, HVAC system setups, and service upgrades.

You'll work remotely, reviewing pre-site photos, drawings, and videos provided by our field technicians and operations staff to create well-structured proposals that meet project scope, labor, material, and margin requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Proposal Creation

  • Review field photos, videos, and drawings to accurately determine project scope.
  • Perform takeoffs for conduit, wiring, breakers, HVAC units, disconnects, ducting, and other components.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, and equipment rentals.
  • Create and format professional proposals using Jobber, aligned with internal pricing and margin requirements.
  • Clearly outline assumptions, exclusions, and payment terms for each proposal.

Cost Tracking & Data Maintenance

  • Maintain accurate cost sheets and vendor/subcontractor pricing databases.
  • Review completed projects to compare actual vs. estimated costs for continuous improvement.
  • Track job costs to increase estimating accuracy and profitability.

Operations & Coordination Support

  • Collaborate with U.S.-based operations teams to clarify project scope, scheduling, and client needs.
  • Identify and communicate missing details or potential risks early in the bid process.
  • Assist with panel schedules, load calculations, and marked-up drawings when needed.
  • Keep detailed records of all estimates, revisions, and awarded projects.

Reporting

  • Generate weekly reports on bid volume, proposal status, and projected closings.
  • Keep CRM and tracking spreadsheets updated with current project status.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Proposal Accuracy: ±5% variance from actual cost
  • Turnaround Time: 48–72 hours for standard projects
  • Bid-to-Win Rate: 40%+
  • Weekly Bid Volume: $90,000+ in supported estimates
  • Data Accuracy: 100% compliance with documentation standards

Qualifications

Required:

  • Proven experience preparing estimates for electrical, HVAC, or construction projects.
  • Strong ability to read plans, perform takeoffs, and estimate labor/material costs.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel / Google Sheets) and cost modeling.
  • Excellent written English and attention to detail.
  • Availability to work U.S. business hours (Eastern Time).
  • Willingness to learn internal tools such as Jobber and QuickBooks.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience supporting a U.S.-based contractor or HVAC/Electrical estimating firm.
  • Familiarity with NEC and mechanical codes (advantage but not required).
