Electrical Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator (Virtual Assistant) to support our project team in accurately pricing and estimating electrical projects in Australia. This role requires a deep understanding of Australian electrical regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards to ensure accurate, competitive, and compliant tenders.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Australian-based project managers and estimators, assisting in pricing commercial, industrial, and infrastructure electrical projects. These projects range in value from $100K to $10M and require high attention to detail, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

This is a critical support role, ensuring our tenders are not only cost-competitive but also aligned with Australian electrical codes and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, ensuring compliance with Australian standards.
• Analyse tender documents, drawings, and technical specifications to develop comprehensive pricing strategies.
• Identify and price materials, labour, and equipment, ensuring cost accuracy and project profitability.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns for project submissions.
• Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and technical data.
• Assist in the preparation of detailed tender documentation, ensuring full compliance with Australian requirements.
• Stay up to date with market pricing, supplier costs, and industry trends to improve estimation accuracy.
• Identify project risks and contingencies, ensuring all factors are considered in the pricing model.
• Support the Australian project team by providing commercial insights, cost reports, and forecasting.

Key Requirements & Essential Knowledge:

Extensive experience in electrical estimating and tendering, specifically for Australian commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

In-depth understanding of Australian electrical regulations, including:

• AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules): Ensuring all electrical work complies with national wiring safety standards.
• AS/NZS 3017 (Testing & Verification): Understanding testing requirements for electrical installations.
• State and Territory Regulations: Knowledge of electrical licensing, safety requirements, and local energy distributor regulations.
• Work Health & Safety (WHS) Compliance: Ensuring risk management and site safety practices align with Safe Work Australia guidelines.
  
  Experience in pricing large-scale projects ($100K – $10M), including:
• Commercial and industrial buildings.
• Infrastructure projects (road, rail, utilities).
• Renewable energy installations (solar farms, substations).
  
  Proficiency in Estimation Software & Tools, such as:
• SimPRO, PowerPac, or Estimate One.
• Excel (Advanced Level) for cost breakdowns, pivot tables, and calculations.
  
  Ability to interpret complex electrical plans and specifications with high attention to detail.
  
  Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide cost-saving recommendations.
  
  Excellent communication skills to liaise with Australian-based project teams.
