We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Estimator to support a well-established commercial electrical contractor. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Estimator in Australia to assist in preparing accurate cost estimates, gathering project documentation, and supporting the end-to-end quoting process. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, experience in construction or electrical estimating, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret project documentation including architectural drawings, electrical plans, and specifications

  • Perform quantity take-offs and measurements using estimating software and/or spreadsheets

  • Request and collate supplier and subcontractor quotations as required

  • Assist in preparing bill of quantities and cost estimates for commercial electrical projects

  • Maintain and update pricing databases, material rates, and historical project data

  • Liaise with the Senior Estimator in Australia to ensure accuracy and completeness of quotes

  • Support preparation of final tender documentation and submission packs

  • Track and manage incoming tender requests and deadlines

  • Provide administrative and documentation support as needed during the pre-construction phase

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in estimating, preferably in commercial construction or electrical contracting

  • Knowledge of and compliance with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules) - is a must

Strong understanding of construction project documentation

  • Proficient with take-off software (e.g. PlanSwift, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

Desirable

  • Experience working with Australian or international construction projects

  • Familiarity with Australian building codes and commercial tendering processes

  • Experience supporting remote teams

Software Proficiency

  • Microsoft Excel and Word (Advanced)

  • Estimating/take-off tools such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar

  • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)

  • Project management or CRM tools (e.g. Trello, Buildertrend, simPRO) is a plus

Education

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred
