The Java Application Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing Java-based applications to ensure system reliability and optimal performance. This role involves close collaboration with development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams to resolve incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L2/L3 support for Java-based applications, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution of production issues.
  • Monitor application health, logs, and performance using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or equivalent.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and fix application issues related to Java, Spring Boot, SQL, APIs, and integrations.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and create incident reports for recurring issues.
  • Coordinate with the development team for bug fixes, enhancements, and deployments.
  • Participate in code reviews, system testing, and performance tuning activities.
  • Handle deployment support and release management using tools like Jenkins, Git, or Bitbucket.
  • Maintain and update documentation, such as support runbooks, configuration guides, and knowledge bases.
  • Support ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in Java application support, development, or maintenance.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Core Java, Spring / Spring Boot, REST APIs, and SQL (Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting.
  • Experience with application servers (Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss).
  • Knowledge in version control tools (Git, Bitbucket) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
  • Familiar with incident management tools such as ServiceNow or Jira.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.

Good to Have

  • Exposure to microservices architecture and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience in performance monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, AppDynamics).
  • Basic knowledge of front-end technologies (Angular, React, or JSP).
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term

Contract length: 18 months

Pay: Up to Php60,000.00 per month
