The Safety Officer 3 / Pollution Control Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. This dual-role position combines occupational safety management with pollution control oversight, ensuring that company operations meet regulatory standards, reduce risks, and promote sustainability across all processes.


Key Responsibilities

Safety Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) policies, procedures, and government regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all departments.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend preventive measures.
  • Develop and conduct safety training programs, including employee orientation and refresher sessions.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in developing and updating safety manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and emergency response plans.

Pollution Control Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance with environmental regulations at local, national, and company levels.
  • Develop and implement pollution control and waste management programs, including emission reduction measures.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to minimize environmental impact.
  • Investigate environmental incidents, recommend corrective actions, and maintain proper documentation.
  • Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports to management and regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct environmental awareness training and promote company-wide sustainability initiatives.
  • Participate in the selection and procurement of environmentally compliant equipment and machinery.
  • Support production operations to ensure efficiency while maintaining environmental and safety standards.
  • Exercise administrative control over personnel to ensure compliance with company rules and safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

  • Training/Certifications:

  • Completion of the mandatory 40-hour Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) training course applicable to the industry.

  • At least 48 hours of advanced or specialized occupational safety training relevant to the field.
  • Accreditation/Certification as an OSH Practitioner (or equivalent) under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regulations.
  • Training the Trainer Certification.
  • Certified Pollution Control Officer (PCO) accreditation.

Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant experience in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Pollution Control operations in the workplace.
