
Credit and Collection Officer

A Credit and Collection Officer is responsible for managing a company's accounts receivable, ensuring timely payment of outstanding invoices, and minimizing bad debt. They handle collection calls, negotiate payment plans, and address customer inquiries related to billing and payments.
Key Responsibilities:
Collection Efforts: Actively contact customers with overdue accounts, negotiate payment arrangements, and follow up on outstanding invoices.
Communication and Customer Relations: Address customer inquiries regarding billing, payments, and collections.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of customer accounts, track collection efforts, and prepare reports on accounts receivable and collections performance.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and mitigate credit risk, such as assessing credit limits and reviewing payment terms.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations related to collections.
Collaboration: Work with other departments, such as sales, accounting, and legal, to resolve collections issues.

Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication is crucial for engaging with customers and negotiating payment arrangements.
Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate payment plans and resolve disputes with customers.

Attention to Detail: Accuracy in record-keeping and maintaining accurate financial records.
Time Management and Organization: Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize tasks effectively.
Basic Knowledge of Accounting and Finance: Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in using relevant software, such as spreadsheets and collections management systems.
Experience in Collections: Previous experience in a collections role or similar position is often preferred.
