Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines The Espiritu Hotel Full time $30,000 - $50,000 per year

We are looking for a smart and capable new team member to become our full-time remote Accountant for our 13-room hotel and in-house restaurant in Vanuatu.

This Accountant will ensure accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, payroll processing, expense tracking as well as internal controls to maintain profitability and regulatory adherence while also managing an error-tracking system to identify, fix, and prevent financial inconsistencies. This all-in-one role also includes bookkeeping duties related to accounts.

Financial Management:

  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and record-keeping and avoid redundancies

  • Oversee tax compliance, including VAT preparation, reporting and submission

  • Manage payroll including mandatory superannuation payments' preparation, reporting and contributions

  • Track expenses, accounts payable, and accounts receivable

  • Implement and maintain internal controls for financial integrity

Error-Tracking & Accuracy Improvement:

  • Maintain an error-tracking system with correction logs

  • Conduct periodic financial reviews to identify discrepancies

  • Utilize audit checklists to verify compliance and accuracy

  • Perform automated reconciliation to detect and correct inconsistencies

  • Implement measures to prevent financial errors and fraud

Other Duties: Banking and Petty Cash; Xero invoicing; reconciliation and reporting; accounts payable and receivable; and data entry & filing.

Essential Skills:

  • Fluent written and spoken English

  • Xero experience and qualifications

  • Driver's license preferred

  • Able to work independently

  • Ability to plan ahead and anticipate workloads

  • Attention to detail – able to identify your mistakes

  • Problem solving - look for reasons why cash or accounts don't reconcile, look for ways to improve communication or systems for efficiency

  • Professional communication with both colleagues and managers and external auditors

  • Willingness to accept training and feedback

  • To be well groomed, punctual and reliable

  • To be honest, truthful with integrity

Performance Measures

  • Deliver required Financial Reports on time on a weekly, monthly and annual basis

  • Timely payroll processing

  • Submit staff superannuation contributions report by 8th of each month

  • Submit VAT report before 20th of each month
