Logistics Supervisor – Job Description

Position Overview

The logistics supervisor oversees daily logistics and distribution operations, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely movement of goods. This role manages logistics staff, monitors inventory and dispatch activities, coordinates with suppliers and clients, and ensures compliance with company procedures and transport regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics Operations Management

  • Supervise daily logistics, dispatching, and delivery activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate shipment of goods according to customer and project requirements.
  • Monitor loading, unloading, routing, and scheduling of deliveries.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, and operations teams for seamless workflow.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and supervise logistics personnel (drivers, helpers, dispatchers, coordinators).
  • Assign tasks, manage schedules, and monitor performance.
  • Conduct regular team briefings and coaching sessions.

Inventory & Documentation

  • Ensure accurate documentation of incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Validate delivery receipts, waybills, and dispatch records.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and inventory teams regarding discrepancies or missing items.

Vendor & Client Coordination

  • Communicate with clients regarding delivery schedules, requirements, and concerns.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, transport providers, and partners for goods movement.
  • Resolve issues related to delays, incomplete deliveries, or transport problems.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Implement logistics SOPs, policies, and quality standards.
  • Monitor fleet maintenance schedules, fuel usage, and driver compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, proper handling procedures, and company guidelines.
  • Recommend improvements to optimize routes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly logistics reports.
  • Track KPIs such as delivery timeliness, transport costs, and fleet performance.
  • Analyze logistics data to support decision-making and operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (optional depending on company).
  • 2–3 years of experience in logistics, distribution, warehousing, or supply chain roles.
  • Experience in a supervisory or lead role is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, routing, documentation, and transport regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle time-sensitive tasks.
