Job Title: General Accountant

Department: Accounting

Reports To: Finance Head / Chief Accountant / Managing Director

Job Summary:

The General Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting

activities to ensure accurate and timely financial records. This role involves

preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting in month-end and

year-end closings, and supporting internal and external audits. The General

Accountant ensures compliance with internal policies and external

regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Ledger Maintenance


• Record day-to-day financial transactions in the general ledger.


• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.


• Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.

  1. Financial Reporting


• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial

statements.


• Support the preparation of management reports and analysis.


• Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.

  1. Accounts Reconciliation


• Perform regular bank, supplier, customer, and intercompany account

reconciliations.


• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

  1. Month-End and Year-End Closing


• Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.


• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for closing entries.


• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data.

  1. Compliance and Controls


• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., PFRS, GAAP) and

company policies.


• Maintain proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes.


• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary data and

analysis.

  1. Tax and Regulatory Support


• Assist in filing Tax compliance and other statutory tax returns (if

applicable).


• Support the preparation of corporate tax filings and statutory audits.

  1. Process Improvement


• Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems and

processes.


• Assist with automation and digitization of accounting tasks.

Qualifications and Skills:


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CB) is a plus.


• 2+ years of relevant experience in general accounting or financial

reporting.


• Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle,

QuickBooks).


• Solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• High attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
