Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization's general accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial records, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. The role involves managing bank reconciliations, BIR reporting, inventory monitoring, and fixed asset management, while coordinating closely with various departments to maintain effective financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare BIR reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Expanded Withholding Tax (EWT), and Compensation Tax.
  • Secure local permits and licenses, and ensure ongoing compliance with POS permits and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation reports and ensure alignment of book balances and bank balances.
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness of fixed asset records in SAP, including depreciation, acquisitions, disposals, and retirements.
  • Prepare journal entries and adjustments for review and approval by the Accounting Manager.
  • Monitor and update prepayment schedules to ensure accurate recognition of expenses.
  • Validate inventory records against actual counts and ensure proper monitoring of variances.
  • Conduct surprise audits at store branches to validate cash, inventory, and compliance.
  • Coordinate regularly with ALC, Buying, and DC Admin for inventory, assets, and documentation.
  • Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Accounting or Treasury Head/Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or a related field.
  • CPA license is an advantage but not required.
  • Preferably with at least
    2 years of meaningful experience
    in general, financial, or basic accounting.
  • Experience in retail or a related industry is an advantage.
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
