Senior Azure Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and manage our enterprise Azure cloud infrastructure. This role combines hands-on infrastructure engineering with cloud architecture responsibilities, requiring both technical depth and strategic thinking to support our organization's cloud initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable Azure infrastructure solutions including virtual networks, compute resources, storage, and security services
• Manage Azure IaaS and PaaS services including Virtual Machines, App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure SQL Database
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep
• Manage identity and access management using Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), RBAC, and Conditional Access policies

Cloud Architecture

• Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to design cloud solutions aligned with business requirements
• Develop reference architectures and technical standards for Azure deployments
• Evaluate and recommend Azure services and solutions to meet technical and business needs
• Design for high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity in Azure environments
• Ensure architectural designs follow cloud best practices, security frameworks, and compliance requirements

Automation & DevOps

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes
• Implement monitoring and alerting solutions using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
• Develop PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python scripts for automation and operational efficiency

Performance & Optimization

• Monitor system performance and optimize resource utilization and costs
• Conduct capacity planning and scaling strategies
• Implement cost optimization measures and Azure Cost Management practices
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and performance issues

Collaboration & Leadership

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
• Collaborate with development teams, security teams, and other stakeholders
• Document architectures, procedures, and runbooks
• Participate in on-call rotation for production support

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering with at least 3 years focused on Azure
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure core services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Security)
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep)
• Experience with Azure networking and hybrid connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute)
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture patterns and best practices
• Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python)
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Understanding of security principles and compliance frameworks
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure certifications: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS)
• Knowledge of other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus)
• Familiarity with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira)
• Experience in enterprise-scale Azure deployments
• Knowledge of Azure landing zones and Cloud Adoption Framework
• Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning
