Job Title: IT Technical Support Staff

Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive IT Technical Support Staff to join our team. This position is responsible for providing timely technical assistance to users, troubleshooting IT issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of the company's hardware, software, and network systems.

The ideal candidate must have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to explain technical issues in a simple and clear way. This role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the IT team. Fieldwork and on-location support may also be required depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Help Desk Support

  • Respond to user inquiries and provide assistance via phone, email, or in person.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
  • Provide first-level support and escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary.

Hardware and Software Installation

  • Install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Set up new users' accounts, workstations, software, and network connections.
  • Ensure all devices and applications are functioning properly.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution

  • Diagnose and fix operating system errors, application crashes, and connectivity issues.
  • Provide step-by-step support to users for common problems.
  • Work with other IT staff to resolve advanced technical issues.

Network and System Monitoring

  • Monitor system and network performance to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and report them promptly to the IT management team.
  • Assist in configuring and maintaining network connections.

Maintenance and Upkeep

  • Perform regular system updates, patching, and hardware upgrades.
  • Ensure antivirus software and security patches are up to date.
  • Assist in performing backups and maintaining data security.

User Training and Documentation

  • Provide basic training to employees on using software, tools, and company systems.
  • Develop simple guides, FAQs, and instructions for users.
  • Help staff adapt to new IT solutions and tools.

Inventory and Asset Management

  • Maintain an updated inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
  • Track hardware assets and recommend replacements or upgrades when needed.

System Security and Compliance

  • Support the implementation of IT security protocols, including password management.
  • Report security breaches or potential risks to the IT management team.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Document all support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
  • Maintain reports to help identify recurring technical issues.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with system analysts, network administrators, and other IT staff.
  • Assist in deploying new IT systems and updating existing infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related course.
  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support or technical troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, and networks.
  • Knowledge of network management and security protocols.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical matters to non-technical staff.
  • Flexible and willing to provide onsite or field support when required.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a proactive and problem-solving attitude.
