Position: Head Cashier

Position Summary:

Oversees the front-end operations of the grocery store, ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout process. This role is responsible for supervising cashiers, managing customer service at the registers, handling cash operations, and supporting store management in maintaining high service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a team of cashiers to ensure excellent customer service and efficient checkout operations
  • Schedule cashier shifts and manage break rotations to ensure proper front-end coverage
  • Train new cashiers on store policies, POS systems, and customer service procedures
  • Monitor accuracy of transactions and ensure proper handling of cash, coupons, refunds, and returns
  • Resolve escalated customer complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, including balancing cash drawers and safe counts
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front-end area
  • Ensure adherence to loss prevention policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with store management to improve front-end processes and customer experience
  • Assist with other tasks as needed, such as stocking or merchandising near the registers

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of cashier or retail experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role
  • Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Proficient with POS systems and basic computer skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
