Position Title: Assistant Head Cashier

Position Summary:

The Assistant Head Cashier supports the Head Cashier in managing front-end operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and customer-focused service at checkout. This role helps oversee the cashiering team, assists with training, monitors transaction accuracy, and provides backup in handling escalated issues. The position also helps enforce store policies and supports daily operational tasks at the front end.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Cashier in supervising daily front-end operations
  • Provide guidance and support to cashiers to maintain excellent customer service
  • Help coordinate cashier schedules and manage break rotations
  • Assist in training new cashiers on POS systems and store procedures
  • Monitor transaction accuracy and proper handling of returns, refunds, and discounts
  • Address minor customer concerns and escalate issues to the Head Cashier as needed
  • Support with opening and closing procedures, including balancing assigned registers
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area
  • Ensure cash handling and loss prevention policies are followed
  • Perform cashiering duties and assist with front-end merchandising as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of cashier or retail experience; prior leadership experience preferred
  • Strong customer service and teamwork skills
  • Basic understanding of POS systems and transaction procedures
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
