Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor/Estimator (SMP) to support an Australian client in the heavy industrial sector, including mining, oil & gas, and construction. The role involves measuring and estimating quantities and costs across structural, mechanical, piping works.

You'll interpret engineering drawings, perform weld mapping, remeasurements, and support cost validation and variation claims. A solid grasp of contract execution and multidisciplinary estimating—especially in steel and piping fabrication—is essential.

This role requires precision, strong analytical skills, and collaboration with engineering and project control teams to ensure accurate and timely project data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret engineering drawings for quantity and cost validation.

• Generate BOQs and conduct remeasurements across SMP and electrical works.

• Understand contract pricing structures and change management mechanisms.

• Execute shiploader remeasures and weld mapping activities.

• Collaborate across engineering, fabrication, and project control teams

Pre-Tender Contributions:

• Input data from tender documents into standardized templates.

• Coordinate material take-offs (MTO) across SMP disciplines.

• Evaluate design revisions and monitor tender changes.

• Review subcontractor and supplier quotations for cost validation.

Post-Tender and Pre-Tender:

• Analyze and trace welding processes to support quality assurance and contract claims.

• Map welds and assess complexity against tender and IFC drawings.

• Estimate variations using company's pricing tools and project norms.

• Draft and submit accurate cost adjustments, variations, and remeasurements.

• Monitor contract compliance and support dispute resolution processes.

• Compare contract vs. as-built data for potential claims.

• Assist with documentation accuracy and deliver precise project reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is desirable

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Quantity Surveying/Estimating experience preferably within the heavy industrial sectors (Engineering and Construction, Mining, Oil & Gas, Onshore/Offshore, Refinery)

• Experience in a multidisciplinary environment – Structural, Mechanical, Piping.

• Demonstrated experience with tendering/estimating on all types of fabrication, including pipework, structural steel, chutes, hoppers & tanks, using a wide range of materials from carbon steel, stainless steel, super duplex, titanium & alloy nickels, electrical and instrumentation.

• Skilled in weld mapping and shiploader re-measures.

• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

• High attention to detail and accuracy is required.

• Familiarity with Australian standards and/or prior overseas project exposure is an advantage

• Proficient in Navisworks/ 3D Modelling software, PDF Acrobat, MS Office Suite (particularly Word & Excel).

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for cost tracking, estimates, and reporting

• Consistent ability to meet deadlines and support operational targets with 100% task completion

• Must be willing to report onsite at Arcovia City, Brgy. Ugong, Pasig City (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm).
