Job Description:

Tax Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare and file US sales/use tax returns by compiling and analyzing monthly sales tax data.
  • Prepare and lodge GST/VAT returns for AU/NZ/UK/Singapore.
  • Perform account reconciliations for general ledger sales/GST/VAT tax accounts, ensuring accuracy between Xero, Shopify and/or Avalara.
  • Maintain clear, organised workpapers to support audits and tax filings.
  • Manage new state tax and organisational registrations as required.
  • Research and respond to tax notices from various authorities, ensuring compliance and timely resolution.
  • Handle ancillary tax filings required by local jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly and annual census reports.
  • Support external tax firms by preparing annual tax schedules for income tax filings.
  • Assist with audits and contribute to special tax-related projects.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax operations.

Accounts Payable Support:

  • Process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and correct coding in the accounting system.
  • Maintain vendor records, including setting up new vendors and updating existing information.
  • Prepare and process payment runs according to established schedules.
  • Respond to supplier queries and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Assist with AP process improvements to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide general finance team support during peak periods or special projects.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or any related field.
  • 2 years of experience in tax compliance.
  • Experience in US tax compliance.
  • Experience with Avalara tax software is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Committed to handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience with both tax and accounts payable functions.
  • Familiarity with Xero or similar accounting software.
  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable collaborating with both local and international teams.
