At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation, and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.

We are currently looking for a
Fuel Specialist
to join our Energy & Power Sector. As a Fuel Specialist, you will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for fuel systems across multiple thermal generation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of fuel strategies for power generation, including fuel selection, sourcing, logistics, and long-term supply planning.
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of fuel system design, from concept through specification, FEED, and detailed engineering.
• Evaluate fuel options based on cost, availability, emissions, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align fuel strategies with project goals and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure any fuel related engineering design meets local and international codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Review and approve engineering documents, vendor submissions, and technical reports produced by others.
• Provide expert input during procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational phases.
• Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and HAZOP/HAZID / Safety in Design workshops and on-site safe installation reviews.
• Troubleshoot complex fuel system issues and recommend innovative engineering solutions.
• Represent the company in technical forums, industry conferences, and regulatory consultations.
• Work with international engineering teams and specialists to deliver high value solutions to clients around the world
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering (Master's or PhD preferred).
• Minimum 12 years of experience in fuel systems engineering for thermal power generation.
• Proven leadership in concept, FEED, and detailed design of fuel systems.
• Deep knowledge of fuel handling, storage, treatment, combustion, and emissions control.
• Familiarity with international standards (ASME, API, NFPA, IEC, ISO).
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Deep experience in a wide range of both liquid and gas fuel types, including processing, receiving, transmission, storage, and utilization aspects
• Specialist knowledge of traditional and future fuels for power generation, such as natural gas, LPG, fuel oil, diesel, biofuels, methanol, hydrogen, ammonia, synthetic fuels, and blends of the same.
• Experience in detailed engineering of fuel systems as well as practical experience such as fuel system commissioning.
