DevOps Application Engineer (AWS Focused)

Internal title: Application Engineer

Pay range: We value transparency and want to ensure a good fit for both parties. We encourage applicants who are comfortable within the salary range of Php 60,000 to 81,000 to apply.

Note: A language assessment will be conducted before the first interview. This role involves regular collaboration with our UK team, including senior managers and the Business team. Strong communication and listening skills, along with the ability to ask relevant questions or clarify requirements, are essential.

We are looking for an Application Engineer who will be part of the Manila Application Engineers team. As a key member of our team, you are responsible for supporting business application systems for Cambridge University Press and Assessment, running in Cloud platforms, such as AWS and Azure, and On-Premise Linux and Windows Operating Systems.

What will you do as an Application Engineer?

As anApplication Engineer, you will plan and manage project implementations, provide day-to-day technical support, and oversee system maintenance. This includes evaluating solutions, conducting pilots and proof of concepts, and facilitating knowledge transfer with support teams.

An ideal candidate has demonstrated ability to deliver results with limited guidance and has the following qualities:

Essential:

• Education & Experience: Degree or equivalent experience with 3+ years in AWS Cloud Engineering, Architecture, or Infrastructure within SysAdmin or DevOps roles.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, and Terraform
• Cloud & Virtualization: Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure, troubleshooting cloud environments, and experience with virtualization technologies like VMware and Hyper-V.

Desirable:

• Application & Scripting: Experienced in web hosting (IIS, Apache Tomcat) and scripting using Shell, PowerShell, Bash, Java, or Python.
• System Administration: Proficient in Unix/Windows admin, ITIL practices, incident and change management, and virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Networking & Security: Strong grasp of networking, firewalls, load balancers, AWS services, and directory services (Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP).
