About GEOQUEST

The Reinforced Earth Wall System was initially introduced to the Philippines in 1984. In that time, several business units of Geoquest, such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Australia, collaborated with local contractors for various private and government projects.

As a result of these collaborative initiatives, a pathway was paved for the standardization of the Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Wall System in the Philippines. Drawing from the experiences and insights gained through these partnerships, the Reinforced Earth Wall System served as a foundational guideline for the development of construction practices outlined in the Department of Public Works and Highways' Blue Book. Geoquest Philippines subsequently established a local office in 2016, headquartered in Makati, Philippines.

Geoquest Philippines has forged an unrivalled level of expertise and experience in Retaining Structures, Crossing Structures, Preventing and Protecting infrastructure, Soil Reinforcement and Ground Stabilization.

Our technical solutions are defined by four functions corresponding to the purpose of the structure to be designed: RETAIN, CROSS, PROTECT, & STRENGTHEN.

Over the last couple of years, Geoquest Philippines has been consistently setting the gold standards in Reinforced Earth Wall structures and has played an active role in many projects in the region.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Design Manager will be responsible for assisting designs, assessing and analysis of open channels, rivers, coasts and other bodies of water. Results of assessment will be used for inputs for erosion and scouring protection design.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordination with Technical Manager: TM to relay information to Technical Engineer and provide necessary steering and management for the initial concept and approach.
  2. Technical Review: Assess all project-related documents, including CAD files/printouts, geotechnical reports, and other technical specifications.
  3. Design Collaboration: Work closely with the design team, providing feedback and insights based on hands-on experience and knowledge.
  4. Material & Methodology Selection: Choose appropriate materials and construction methodologies based on the project's needs, considering factors like soil type, wall height, and load conditions.
  5. Problem-Solving: Address any technical challenges, such as unstable soil conditions or challenging terrain, by employing engineering principles and innovative solutions.
  6. Client Design Team Interaction: Act as the technical point of contact for client's design team, addressing concerns, and explaining complex technical details in layman's terms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • With at least 5 to 10 years work experience
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software and tools ( Geo5, Slide, Plaxis…)
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions
  • Keen to share his knowledge to the technical and production engineers.
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure project quality and accuracy
  • Proven experience in project management and team leadership
  • Ability to work under pressure and to fulfil commitments.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate technical teams
  • Willing to be assigned fulltime in our Head Office in Makati City
