JOB DESCRIPTION

Manages all fundamental aspects and stages of the design process from the formation of the design organization, design conceptualization up to the preparation of the final or detailed engineering design while ensuring that design process and the final product both meet the purpose, quality, schedule, and budget objectives of the Client.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements design strategies, outlining how the Design Development Team will create deliverables and implement them for the specific or particular project.
  • Ensures that the members of the design team are fully aware of and understands the design strategy and the corresponding deliverables and milestones.
  • Presents the design strategy to Infrastructure BU Head for approval and explains the deliverables, numbers and expected outcomes.
  • Manages the formation of the Design Development Team for the specific project, identifies the required design scopes; establishes the proposed network of interaction between the design scopes and oversees the selection of the designers or design firms that will be part of the design team.
  • Manages the Design Development Team composed of several designers and evaluates individual design deliverables and overall team performance.
  • Analyzes the performance and progress of the Design Development Team and delivers critical feedback where needed
  • Initiates and encourages open communication and cooperation among the team members throughout the duration of a project.

QUALIFICATION

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture, basic knowledge in any of the available computer design programs, knowledgeable with the relevant Codes of Practice – ACI, AISC, ASCE and NSCP, working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Experience: With at least 10 years experience in project design development including at least 5 years as a Design Manager of a major infrastructure project.

Certification Required: Licensed CE, ME, EE or Architect.
