Purpose

Mission

As the HR Specialist I, you will champion two critical domains: recruitment and employee experience. You'll support full-cycle hiring from posting to initial screenings, while also owning initiatives that celebrate, engage, and retain our people. When thriving, this role becomes a cornerstone of Gophermods' goal to be a top workplace, influencing both who we hire and how we support them once they're here.

Key Responsibilities Talent Acquisition
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager and HR Specialist to execute recruitment strategies.
  • Post job listings on job boards and ATS as needed.
  • Conduct phone screens and virtual interviews.
  • Coordinate applicant flow and update records in the ATS.
  • Provide a seamless candidate experience from application through offer.
  • Maintain the HR inbox and respond promptly to candidate inquiries.
  • Participate in job fair coordination or virtual hiring events.

People Engagement & Culture
  • Manage and continuously improve onboarding processes to ensure new hires feel welcomed and informed.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute recurring team-building activities (monthly events, annual holiday party, etc.).
  • Lead employee recognition initiatives (birthdays, anniversaries, milestones).
  • Manage timekeeping system and support workforce efficiency initiatives.
  • Assist in implementing and analyzing the annual employee satisfaction survey.
  • Support internal communication initiatives related to employee well-being and engagement.
Qualifications
  • No specific HR degree required
  • 2-5 years experience in HR or People operations
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experience in manage ATS System
  • Employee Engagement experience
  • Recruiting experience
  • Demonstrated experience or aptitude in event planning and coordination
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency in basic HR software and job posting platforms
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
