Job Title: Inventory Officer

The Inventory Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring that an organization's inventory is accurately tracked, managed, and optimized. They oversee the inventory control processes, perform regular cycle counts, reconcile variances, and provide insights to improve stock management and minimize loss. They are key in identifying slow-moving, excess, and expired inventory, while helping to improve efficiency and reduce shrinkage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement an organized cycle count schedule that ensures regular inventory counts based on product turnover and business needs.
  • Execute physical inventory counts on a routine basis (cycle counts), comparing the actual physical stock to what is recorded in the inventory management system.
  • Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records by updating inventory records and identifying potential causes.
  • Prepare detailed variance reports that include explanations, and work with management to take corrective actions.
  • Summarize trends and patterns of shrinkage, and analyze data to identify key discrepancies or issues in inventory control and highlight areas where improvements can be made to reduce shrinkage.
  • Make necessary system adjustments to ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Track items that are not selling or being used as expected and recommend strategies for liquidation or disposal.
  • Identify excess stock that exceeds business needs and coordinate efforts for reduction, such as offering promotions or discounts.
  • Monitor products with expiration dates or shelf life limitations and recommend strategies to minimize losses, such as adjusting purchasing or promoting sales of these items before they expire.
  • Participate in inventory management system enhancements to streamline inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, industrial engineering, or supply chain management is preferred
  • Preferably with at least 1 year experience of inventory management or a related role. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge in cycle counting and reconciling inventory discrepancies
  • Experience in a retail or warehouse setting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and systems (e.g., ERP software, Microsoft Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
