Building and Facility Safety Officer

ABOUT THE POSITION

This position will play several key roles within the organization and have significant responsibilities which will include maintaining and overseeing the administrative tasks of operating the training facility.

The main tasks/responsibilities will be:

• Oversee the technical maintenance and upkeep of the building, its facilities and equipment
• Establish and implement maintenance strategies and protocols to ensure that all facilities and equipment are fully-operational and are well-kept
• Ensure the upkeep of the aesthetics and functionality of the property and its amenities and facilities by regularly inspecting the façade and structure
• Attend to any building concerns and provide recommendations in resolving issues
• Recommend programs, strategies, and protocols that will improve the functionality and maintenance of the equipment
• Support the development of OHS policies and programs
• Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
• Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
• To co-ordinate all consultancy works on maintenance matters performed by professional consultants
• Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
• Initiate and organize OHS training of employees
• Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using PPE) that would compromise safety and security of the personnel, guests and property/assets of IFS
• Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of materials etc., when necessary
• Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
• Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims
• Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management
• Ensure that the property is safe from any hazards and dangers and is secured at all times
• Participate in establishing a healthy community relationship
• Responsible for all building maintenance coordination and administration to keep the building up to the IFS standard.
• Responsible for maintaining business permit, including renewals, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Qualification:

• Proven experience as safety officer
• BOSH Certificate
• Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety

Technical Skills:

• In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSH) and procedures
• Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
• Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
• Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
