Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, menus, or customer orders.
  • Set up and stock workstations with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Chop, slice, marinate, and portion ingredients as part of meal prep.
  • Monitor food while cooking to ensure proper temperature, texture, and presentation.
  • Ensure food is prepared safely and hygienically according to health standards.
  • Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and tools after use.
  • Label and store ingredients and leftovers properly to prevent spoilage.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff such as servers, chefs, and dishwashers.
  • Follow special dietary instructions (e.g., allergies, vegetarian, gluten-free).
  • Assist in inventory checks and alert supervisors when supplies are low.
  • Ensuring the quality, taste, and consistency of all dishes served.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen that meets safety and sanitation standards.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations, including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention.
  • Managing time effectively to ensure timely food preparation during busy hours.
  • Minimizing food waste through proper portion control and storage.
  • Reporting equipment issues or hazards to the kitchen supervisor or manager.

Qualifications:

  • Line cook/prep cook: 1–2 years of experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment.
  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Time management and multitasking under pressure.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long hours.
  • Attention to detail and presentation.
