Position Overview

The Assistant Team Leader (Back of House) supports the Team Leader in overseeing BOH operations, ensuring efficient product preparation, quality control, and adherence to food safety standards. The role involves supervising BOH staff during shifts, assisting with training, coordinating order flow, and maintaining smooth kitchen operations to deliver excellent service and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Team Leader in managing daily BOH operations and workflow.
  • Supervise BOH staff during shifts and ensure task delegation is properly followed.
  • Oversee product assembly and preparation to maintain quality, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Support training and coaching of BOH staff on company standards, SOPs, and food safety practices.
  • Monitor inventory usage and assist in stock receiving, checking, and storage.
  • Ensure strict compliance with sanitation, hygiene, and safety regulations in all BOH areas.
  • Coordinate with FOH staff to maintain smooth order flow and minimize delays.
  • Assist in documenting shift reports, incidents, and operational concerns.
  • Perform BOH tasks when needed, especially during peak hours.
  • Act as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance BOH efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications

  • College level or graduate of Hospitality, Culinary, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a kitchen, commissary, or bakery operation; prior supervisory or team leader experience is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling, kitchen operations, and safety standards.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate, and guide team members.
  • Good communication and coordination skills with FOH and management.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays.
