The Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of incoming payments and maintaining healthy cash flow. This position is responsible for managing customer interactions related to billing, processing payments, reconciling bank transactions, allocating sales receipts, and preparing aged debtor reports to support effective credit control and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to inbound calls and emails regarding customer billing inquiries and payment status
  • Process and record customer payments via various channels (e.g., bank transfers, credit card, cash)
  • Post daily receipts to bank accounts and reconcile transactions with internal records
  • Allocate payments accurately against sales invoices and update the accounts receivable ledger
  • Generate and maintain aged debtors' statements, highlighting overdue accounts and payment trends
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely collections
  • Assist in month-end closing activities related to receivables
  • Maintain organized documentation and audit trails for all receivable transactions
  • Support ad hoc finance tasks and reporting as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3years of experience in accounts receivable or general accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, NetSuite)
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with aged debt analysis and credit control practices
