About the Opportunity

The Platform Engineer combines both software and systems engineering and takes charge of the automation, performance, stability, reliability, and scalability of IT infrastructure and services for critical investment banking applications. The mission is to KEEP THE LIGHTS ON.

The Platform Engineer should have a strong desire to improve systems that are used at a large scale.

About the Role

• Design and build infrastructure that will support an ever-growing set of records to be used by financial institutions worldwide.
• Design and deploy systems to streamline the deployment of new software and ease the burden of supporting said new software.
• Automate server provisioning processes to reduce human intervention.
• Maintain system uptime and availability.
• Maintain production systems by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
• Requisitioning new infrastructure to anticipate and address growing volumes.
• Test the resiliency of IT operations.
• Communicate with third-party vendors to handle infrastructure inquiries, issues, or requests.
• Problem and incident management and root-causes analysis on high severity outages.
• Deploy changes and upgrades to the platform on weekends for major releases.

About You

• DevOps/Platform Engineering experience of at least 3 years.
• Overall professional experience of 5+ years in the industry (mixture of development and system engineering/administration).
• Experience in cloud services, particularly in infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) is highly desired.
• Strong system architecture and design knowledge and experience.
• Having experience in one or more of the following: Shell script, Python, Ruby, Java, or JavaScript is advantageous.
• A software development background with practical experience in managing builds, deployment, and operation as a continuous automated process is nice to have.
• Security-minded with a high-level understanding of cryptographic algorithms, secure communication protocols, and secrets management systems.
• Familiar with various CI/CD and defining build/test/deploy pipelines in code.
• Capable of learning our coding languages and interpreting the business logic of our production codebase.
• Strong working knowledge of networking.
• Strong administration knowledge/skills (particularly Linux).
• Working knowledge of MongoDB, and configuration management.
• Candidates must bring their own skills and expertise to sometimes create unusual solutions.
• Banking/financial industry experience is desired but not required.
• Availability for on-call support to address production issues or incidents.
