Staff Nurse

1. Give direct nursing care.

2. Identifies nursing needs of patients (confidentiality, privacy, security, counseling, and communication).

3. Observes signs and symptoms, institutes remedial action when appropriate and documents pertinent information in the patient's chart.

4. Reports clinical manifestations and other significant changes in the patient's condition to physicians.

5. Works together with the other members of the health team in order to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

6. Performs nursing activities such as oral hygiene, bathing, feeding through nasogastric tube, catheterizations, blood transfusion, enemas, post mortem care, and etc.

7. Carries out physician's legal orders.

8. Administers and charts prescribed medications and patient's reactions to the medicines.

9. Responds to patient's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in an appropriate manner.

10. Gives pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.

11. Prepares patients for, and assists physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures like chest tube insertion, lumbar puncture, wound debridement and intubation.

12. Develops discharge planning process on admission of patients.

13. Operates medical equipments (such as pulse oximeter, blood pressure apparatus, ECG machine, cardiac monitor, infusion pump, syringe pump, suction machine, and defibrillator) and ensures proper care and maintenance.
