Operations Manager for Finance and Accounting

The Operations Manager will oversee the overall operational performance of the centre, ensuring efficient, accurate and timely delivery with client, compliance with professional standards, internal controls and service level agreements (SLAs). This role will lead continuous improvement, manage process flows, people, technology adoption, service quality, and coordinate with internal stakeholders and possibly external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the shared services centre (accounting, bookkeeping, reconciliation, month-end close support, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, reporting, internal controls)
  • Develop, implement and monitor operational processes, workflows, KPIs and SLAs (e.g., time to close, accuracy/error rate, cost per transaction, turnaround times)
  • Manage and mentor a team of supervisors/managers and front-line staff; ensure appropriate staffing, training, performance management and development
  • Collaborate with the CPA leadership (audit/assurance, tax, consulting) to ensure smooth hand-offs, strong service alignment and partnering
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives: process standardisation, automation (RPA/AI tools), centralisation, elimination of duplication, cost optimisation
  • Ensure compliance with Philippine accounting standards (PFRS), internal controls, audit standards, data privacy/security requirements, and relevant regulatory obligations
  • Monitor and manage operating budget, forecasts, resource allocation, vendor/outsourcing relationships and cost efficiencies
  • Provide management reports and dashboards on operations performance; identify risk areas and propose corrective actions
  • Manage change initiatives: new client onboarding, system implementations, harmonisation of global processes (if relevant), business continuity planning
  • Foster a strong service culture: high client/stakeholder satisfaction, responsiveness, quality mindset
  • Ensure staff engagement, retention, and performance excellence in a shared services environment.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA qualification preferred (or equivalent professional certification)
  • Minimum 5-10 years of operations or shared services experience, ideally in accounting/finance or professional services environment; at least 3-5 years in a supervisory/management role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes (GL, AP, AR, close, reconciliation), service operations and shared services model
  • Proven experience in implementing process improvements, automation tools, KPI frameworks
  • Excellent leadership, people management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management capabilities
  • Demonstrated capability in managing budgets, forecasting and cost control
  • Experience in a multinational/shared-services centre or in a global/shared services/outsourced model is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse teams and interface with senior management
  • Strong change management orientation, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in relevant systems (ERP, workflow tools, Excel/Power BI, automation/RPA tools)
