Job Description:

Responsible for oversight and supervision of the fitness areas in APC. Individuals holding this position must be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision making skills. The Campus Fitness Coach is responsible for providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all users of the APC Fitness Center. Lastly, this person is also responsible for delivering quality support services by assisting students, faculty, and other stakeholders in a professional and responsive manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide customer service through: educating stakeholders on proper exercise techniques, injury prevention and proper use of equipment. Promoting inclusivity and body-positive practices.

  2. Maintain cleanliness standards by coordinating with the Building Maintenance Office regarding equipment upkeep and facility sanitation.

  3. Collaborate with other department on campus wellness initiatives. Lead group workouts and training sessions.

  4. Maintain accurate progress records and incident reports.

  5. Serve as a first responder in emergency situations and follow emergency protocols set by the Building Maintenance Office.

  6. Regularly report updates and concerns to the PE Head

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field

  2. Certification from a fitness organization

  3. CPR and/or First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

  4. Experience in coaching, personal training, or teaching group fitness classes. Prior experience in a school is preferred but not required.

  5. Ability to work with diverse populations; has strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Important: The role will be contracted through an agency.
