Key Responsibilities:

1. Employment Law Compliance

  • Ensure the organization's HR practices comply with local, state, and federal labor laws.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in employment legislation and advise HR and management accordingly.
  • Support in the implementation of HR policies that align with legal requirements.

2. Employee Relations & Dispute Resolution

  • Provide legal advice on disciplinary actions, grievances, terminations, and workplace investigations.
  • Represent the company in labor disputes, mediations, or labor tribunals, in collaboration with external counsel where needed.
  • Help resolve workplace conflicts to reduce the risk of legal claims.

3. Policy Review & Development

  • Draft and review HR policies, employee handbooks, codes of conduct, and other internal regulations.
  • Ensure internal policies are legally sound, clear, and effectively communicated to staff.

4. Contract & Document Management

  • Draft, review, and update employment contracts, consultancy agreements, NDAs, and termination letters.
  • Ensure all employment documentation is legally compliant and up to date.

5. Investigations & Compliance Monitoring

  • Assist with or lead internal investigations related to harassment, discrimination, or misconduct.
  • Ensure due process is followed in HR investigations and disciplinary proceedings.
  • Support compliance with workplace safety, diversity, and anti-discrimination laws.

6. Training & Capacity Building

  • Conduct training sessions for HR staff and line managers on employment law topics such as workplace ethics, discrimination, disciplinary procedures, and more.
  • Promote awareness of legal rights and responsibilities in the workplace.
