
Payrol Supervisor

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's payroll functions to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. The Payroll Supervisor leads the payroll team, manages payroll systems, and collaborates with HR, Finance, and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the daily operations of the payroll team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee payroll for [bi-weekly/monthly] pay cycles.
- Review and verify payroll data, including timekeeping records, deductions, benefits, bonuses, and commissions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing payroll and taxation (e.g., FLSA, IRS, state tax laws).
- Prepare and review payroll reports and reconcile payroll accounts.
- Manage year-end processes including W-2s, tax filings, and audits.
- Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments on payroll-related projects, policy changes, and system improvements.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of payroll staff.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of payroll information.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of payroll experience, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paychex, SAP) is required.
- Knowledge of multi-state and/or international payroll (if applicable) is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and labor laws.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
Certifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Standard office environment.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer.
- Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods.
