Mangrove Place is opening a brand new resort in Siquijor and we're building a strong culinary team to match the experience we want to offer. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef who can bring creativity, leadership, and consistency to our kitchen operations. This is an opportunity to grow with us from the very beginning and help shape the dining identity of a new resort destination.
The Sous Chef will work closely with the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining professional standards at all times. This role requires a blend of culinary expertise, leadership ability, and strong organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in planning, directing, and supervising all kitchen operations
- Oversee daily food preparation and ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality
- Assist in developing new dishes, menus, and seasonal specials
- Lead and train kitchen staff; ensure proper workflow and teamwork
- Monitor inventory, manage food costing, and reduce wastage
- Maintain strict compliance with sanitation, hygiene, and safety standards
- Ensure kitchen equipment is functioning properly and report issues promptly
- Coordinate with front-of-house teams for smooth service and guest satisfaction
- Step in and take full charge of the kitchen when the Head Chef is absent
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook (preferably in hotels, restaurants, or resorts)
- Strong culinary background with knowledge of various cooking methods and cuisines
- Excellent leadership, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
- Knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and inventory control
- Creative, adaptable, and passionate about food
- Willing to be assigned in Siquijor
