The Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating menu items according to the café's standards. This role requires consistency, speed, cleanliness, and the ability to work efficiently during peak hours. The Line Cook ensures that every dish served meets quality, presentation, and food safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare, cook, and assemble menu items according to recipes and portion standards

  • Ensure correct cooking techniques, timing, and temperatures

  • Maintain high-quality food presentation

  • Handle multiple orders simultaneously during busy periods

  • Adjust recipes and process based on kitchen lead or head chef instructions

Mise en Place & Station Management

  • Set up the station before service (ingredients, tools, equipment)

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area at all times

  • Restock ingredients and supplies as needed

  • Properly store food items using FIFO and safety guidelines

Kitchen Operations

  • Assist with food prep (chopping, marinating, mixing sauces, portioning)

  • Coordinate with servers and baristas for smooth service flow

  • Use kitchen equipment safely (grill, stove, oven, fryer, knives, etc.)

  • Manage cooking waste and maintain minimal food cost losses

Sanitation & Safety

  • Follow all food safety and hygiene standards

  • Keep work station sanitized throughout the shift

  • Ensure proper labeling and storage of ingredients

  • Comply with DOH and local sanitation requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience as a line cook or kitchen staff preferred (but can train the right applicant)

  • Ability to follow recipes consistently

  • Strong multitasking and time-management skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Can work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Willing to work weekends and holidays

  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and safety rules

Work Schedule

  • Full-time / Shift-based
