Overview

The
ServiceNow Architect – Operational Capability
is responsible for designing, optimizing, and implementing operational solutions within the ServiceNow platform. This role specializes in scripting, automation, and CMDB discovery to ensure accurate asset visibility, high-quality configuration data, and efficient operational workflows. The architect will serve as the technical authority for operational excellence across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain advanced scripts using
    JavaScript
    ,
    Flow Designer
    , and related automation tools to enhance platform functionality and streamline processes.
  • Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot
    Discovery
    tools to ensure reliable and efficient asset scanning.
  • Perform baseline discovery of IT assets and ensure accurate and complete population of the
    CMDB
    .
  • Lead and manage end-to-end CMDB lifecycle activities, including
    identification, reconciliation, deduplication, enrichment, archival
    , and
    deletion
    of configuration items.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for CMDB health, data governance, and ongoing data quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to ensure operational capabilities align with organizational requirements and strategic objectives.
  • Provide technical thought leadership on operational architecture, platform performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Must-Have Skills

Scripting & Development

  • Advanced proficiency in
    JavaScript
    ,
    Flow Designer
    , and other ServiceNow automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of development best practices, coding standards, and platform governance.

CMDB Discovery & Automation

  • Hands-on experience in
    Discovery
    tool configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in conducting
    baseline asset discovery
    and ensuring accurate CI identification.
  • Deep knowledge of CMDB data lifecycle management, including:
  • CI identification and reconciliation
  • Deduplication and data normalization
  • Data enrichment and governance
  • Archival and data retention
  • Strong understanding of dependencies between Discovery, CMDB, service mapping, and operational workflows.
