Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Compliance & Policy Implementation:

• Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures for FDAS and electrical works.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm Code), DOLE, ISO 45001, and local safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and permit-to-work (PTW) assessments for electrical and fire alarm installations.
• Maintain and update workplace safety permits, certifications, and legal compliance records.

2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Prevention:

• Identify hazards related to electrical systems, wiring, fire alarm control panels, and power distribution.
• Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and risk assessments for FDAS and electrical works.
• Implement safety controls for live electrical work, fire hazards, and confined space entry.
• Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for electrical and fire safety tasks.

3. Safety Inspections & Monitoring:

• Perform daily site safety inspections to ensure compliance with fire and electrical safety standards.
• Verify the proper installation and grounding of electrical wiring, conduits, circuit breakers, and FDAS components.
• Ensure proper fire protection measures (e.g., fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and suppression systems) are in place.
• Identify unsafe practices and issue corrective action plans to prevent accidents.

4. Electrical & Fire Safety Training:

• Conduct safety training sessions on fire alarm system hazards, electrical safety procedures, and emergency response.
• Organize fire drills, first aid training, and electrical safety awareness programs.
• Educate workers on safe handling of electrical tools, fire suppression systems, and emergency shutdown protocols.

5. Incident Investigation & Reporting:

• Investigate electrical accidents, fire-related incidents, and near-miss cases.
• Prepare incident reports, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
• Work with engineers and project managers to implement preventive measures to avoid future incidents.

6. Emergency Preparedness & Fire Prevention:

• Develop and maintain emergency response plans for electrical fires, short circuits, and system failures.
• Ensure availability and proper function of fire alarms, emergency lighting, and suppression systems.
• Coordinate with fire safety officers, first responders, and local authorities for compliance and emergency response drills.

7. Coordination & Documentation:

• Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, and electricians to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain records of safety inspections, permits, and risk assessments for FDAS and electrical installations.
• Provide regular safety performance reports to management and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in safety management for FDAS, electrical systems, or construction projects.
• Experience in fire safety, electrical installations, and safety audits is an advantage.

Certifications (Preferred):

• OSH Certification (Occupational Safety and Health) – DOLE, OSHA, NEBOSH, or equivalent.
• Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) or Construction Safety Training (COSH).
• NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Systems Certification.
• First Aid, Fire Safety, and Electrical Safety Training Certification.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards, fire protection codes, and risk assessments.
• Ability to identify hazards and implement control measures in FDAS and electrical works.
• Proficiency in incident investigation, report writing, and safety training.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
