Job Summary:

The Deputy Laboratory Director will provide strategic, scientific, and operational leadership to Cordlife Philippines' laboratory and processing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the laboratory, including adherence to local and international regulatory and accreditation standards such as AABB, FACT NetCord, CAP, and cGMP. The Deputy Laboratory Director will oversee laboratory processes, manage technical teams, drive process improvement initiatives, and support the development of new products and services in line with the organization's scientific and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:


• Provide laboratory and technical leadership to ensure operational excellence and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.


• Oversee all laboratory operations, ensuring safety of staff, facility, and biological materials.


• Ensure that all laboratory activities comply with SOPs, quality systems, and standards such as AABB, FACT NetCord, CAP, and/or cGMP.


• Supervise and mentor laboratory managers and staff, fostering professional development and technical competence.


• Evaluate processing data and ensure product safety, efficacy, and quality endpoints are achieved.


• Manage laboratory budgets, resource allocation, and operational planning.


• Drive process development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Oversee implementation and validation of new technical and laboratory services.


• Act as technical liaison with regulatory authorities, accrediting bodies, doctors, and clients as required.


• Provide scientific and technical advice to support business functions and new service development.


• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and oversee facility risk management activities.

Qualifications:


• Medical Degree
and
PhD in Biomedical/Biotechnology or related Life Sciences (e.g., Transfusion Medicine).


• Strong technical knowledge and experience in
stem cells
,
genetics
, or
molecular diagnostics
.


• At least
1 year of cord blood banking experience
is required.


• Experience in
project management
and
laboratory/team management
preferred.


• Knowledge of
AABB/FACT NetCord standards
,
CAP laboratory guidelines
, and/or
cGMP
guidelines for cell/tissue therapy products.


• Effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.


• Competence in laboratory validation and documentation processes.


• Must be
Hepatitis B immunized
.
