Context:

The Quantity/ Cost Estimator provides estimates of construction material quantities and generates project cost estimates based on industry standard unit rates and costs.

Missions/Main Duties:

  • Collate the provided quantity takeoffs for the project from across all design disciplines and perform additional quantity takeoff calculations and checks as needed;
  • Gather material and construction work unit rates, overhead costs and profit rates and perform detailed project cost estimates using these together with the arrived material quantity takeoffs;
  • Provide cost estimate reports and attend clarification meetings with the project team as well as the client;
  • Confer with the project team, contractors and subcontractors on changes on adjustments to quantity and cost estimates;
  • Conducts review of existing information on material and labor requirements, clarifies project priorities, and escalates issues that cannot be resolved within one's level;
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation as required for the duration of the project; and
  • Supports project quality control by initiating cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.

Profile/Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of five (5 ) years' experience in preparing project quantity and costs estimates with horizontal & vertical structures.
