The Marine Travel Consultant is responsible for managing bookings, rebookings, and ticketing for domestic, regional, and some international travel. This role includes handling transactional requirements using mid-office systems, issuing tickets, and addressing minor travel issues. They communicate professionally with clients and team members, ensuring efficient travel arrangements and high levels of client satisfaction. The position suits individuals new to marine travel or with limited experience in handling complex travel arrangements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Handles bookings, rebookings, and ticketing for domestic, regional, and some international travel.

  2. Communicates with clients, team members, and other business units professionally via various communication channels.

  3. Manages transactional requirements using tools such as mid office systems and client magic to ensure efficient travel arrangements.

  4. Issues tickets and manages bookings for 1-2 airlines per flight, primarily focusing on simpler routes and standard multi-leg booking processes.

  5. Addresses ADMs and other minor issues as they arise, which is expected due to limited knowledge of complex fare rules.

  6. Supports administrative tasks including email and calendar management, office supply requisitions, and creation of payment request forms.

  7. Demonstrates basic proficiency with Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and can provide accurate fare quotations based on client requirements.

  8. Exhibits strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities, particularly in resolving booking issues to maintain client satisfaction.

  9. Typically suits individuals new to the marine travel sector or those with limited experience in complex travel arrangements.

  10. Background in travel, tourism, or related field preferred, with GDS training advantageous.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Basic knowledge of GDS; GDS training is a plus but not required.
  • Educational background in travel, tourism, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with booking, rebooking, and ticketing processes, even at a foundational level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing responsibilities.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address minor booking discrepancies and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Ability to manage administrative tasks such as email, scheduling, and payment requests.
  • Suitable for candidates with limited experience handling complex travel arrangements but eager to develop expertise.
