About the Role

You will lead the Bank's Economics Research function—driving macroeconomic modeling, forecasting, policy analysis, and research publications that inform strategy, risk assessments, and client-facing insights. This is a senior leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, strong analytical judgment, and the ability to represent the Bank in high-visibility platforms.

What You Will Lead
Macroeconomic Modeling & Forecasting
  • Develop, refine, and maintain quantitative models for forecasting and nowcasting macroeconomic and political-economy developments in the Philippines, with extensions to global and regional markets.
  • Build and upgrade the Bank's macroeconomic model to track GDP, inflation, unemployment, FX, interest rates, and other key indicators.
  • Develop the macroeconomic stress-testing model for ICAAP and annual regulatory requirements.
Data Analysis & Research Output
  • Collect, process, and analyze economic, financial, social, and political datasets using econometric, statistical, and qualitative methodologies.
  • Produce rigorous research, simulations, scenario analyses, and visualizations for senior management, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Review sovereign risks, conduct country monitoring, and provide insights to Treasury and other units.
  • Prepare and present monthly/quarterly economic outlooks for internal and external audiences.
Thought Leadership & Representation
  • Represent the Bank in media interviews, conferences, and client forums—delivering timely commentary and market outlooks.
  • Participate in Bank-sponsored and client-sponsored economic events locally and regionally.
  • Write technical and non-technical reports, policy briefs, and special research notes.
Research Strategy & Agenda Setting
  • Lead the formulation of the Bank's annual economic research agenda.
  • Generate new topics, research ideas, and approaches aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Handle bespoke research requests from internal business units and key clients.
  • Prepare the annual Economics Section of the Budget Manual.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Manage and mentor a team of economists and statistics analysts.
  • Coordinate with business units for data gathering, model alignment, and research efficiency.
  • Ensure timely delivery of publications, presentations, and research outputs across digital and print channels.
What We're Looking For
  • 8–12+ years' experience in macroeconomic research, economic modeling, forecasting, policy analysis, or related fields.
  • Strong background in econometrics, time-series modeling, stress testing, and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience working in banks, financial institutions, think tanks, or government economic agencies is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to synthesize complex economic data into actionable insights for senior decision-makers.
  • Confident public speaker able to represent the Bank in media and external events.
  • Proven leadership experience managing research teams.
  • Strong written communication skills (technical and non-technical).
