WTA Labs: Center for Urban Research is a knowledge institution that intends to explore the intersections of people, environment and space. WTA Labs would produce research papers, creative works and community engagements, reminiscing on WTA's core principle of Social Architecture. These works aspire to help shape better Filipino cities and communities. Together, these initiatives advance its mission to positively shape the natural, built, and social environments.

As an urban research associate, you will collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary researchers of diverse backgrounds in creating holistic studies that engages the problems and needs of Filipino cities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Social Sciences, Economics, Community Development, Cultural Studies and other disciplines
  • Strong background in research, especially in Filipino urban contexts
  • Ability to work independently with strong self-management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong research planning and execution skills

Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop a holistic understanding of Filipino cities and communities to identify critical, actionable issues that can be effectively addressed through research, community engagement and intervention.
  • Design and lead research projects with a multi-disciplinary team to address pressing issues in Filipino cities and communities, contributing insights grounded in your disciplinary expertise.
  • Explore and execute field-specific methodologies towards providing evidence-based and data-oriented studies and policies.
  • Write research works such as research articles, essays and internet or social media posts aimed at communicating research to a defined audience.
  • Collect, record and analyze data through site visits, research methodologies, government reports, frameworks, and plans.
  • Collaborate with a team of architects and research associates for special research projects on architecture and urban studies.
  • Develop linkages with universities and similar data-oriented institutions towards partnerships and collaborations.
  • Contribute and assist in the operations of the multidisciplinary team.

Additional to specific requirements, such productive skills are important:

  • Proficient in English for writing, speaking, and interpreting data, reports, and presentations
  • Proficiency in collaborative applications and tools (e. g. Google Docs) and in presentation (e. g. Adobe Suite, Canva).
