Job Title: Senior Cloud Engineer

Reports To: IT Infra & Ops Team Lead

Location: Remote / Hybrid

1. Role Overview

Avvanz is significantly investing in enhancing and scaling its AWS cloud operations. The Senior Cloud Engineer is a critical foundational hire responsible for maturing our infrastructure, driving automation, and ensuring our platform meets enterprise demands for scale and reliability. You will lead the implementation of modern DevOps practices, providing essential technical execution and mentorship to the existing internal team.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Automation and Architecture

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, primarily Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Develop and manage automation scripts (e.g., Python, Bash) for provisioning, configuring, and monitoring AWS services.
  • Ensure the Avvanz AWS environment adheres to best practices for security, reliability, performance, and cost optimization (following the AWS Well-Architected Framework).
  • Manage critical AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, and Route 53.

Operations and Reliability Engineering

  • Establish and refine monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (e.g., CloudWatch) to proactively identify and resolve production issues.
  • Participate in the shared on-call rotation for high-priority, non-security infrastructure incidents to ensure 24/7/365 operational availability.
  • Implement continuous security improvements in collaboration with the IT Team Lead.
  • Oversee backup and business continuity planning for core cloud workloads.

Collaboration and Mentoring

  • Work closely with the IT Infra & Ops Team Lead, focusing on providing the technical execution and solution design required to deliver on the team's strategic roadmap.
  • Act as the technical mentor for the Cloud Systems Administrator, guiding them through new procedures and complex troubleshooting.
  • Document all automated processes, deployment patterns, and infrastructure standards to establish robust and scalable internal operational procedures.

3. Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 2 years focused specifically on Cloud Engineering/DevOps in an AWS environment.
  • AWS Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience managing a production AWS environment.
  • Automation/IaC: Strong proficiency in at least one major Infrastructure-as-Code tool (Terraform is preferred, or extensive CloudFormation experience).
  • Scripting: Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash) for system automation and tool development.
  • CI/CD: Solid experience deploying and optimizing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitLab CI).

4. Preferred Qualifications

  • Current AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional certification, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
  • Familiarity with compliance standards relevant to Avvanz (e.g., SOC 2, ISO
