Job Title: VoIP Technical Assistant
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented VoIP Technical Assistant with solid experience in SIP Trunks and 3CX. The role involves supporting the design, configuration, and maintenance of VoIP systems while assisting senior engineers in ensuring smooth, secure, and efficient communication infrastructures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup, configuration, and management of VoIP systems, primarily on 3CX and SIP Trunks.
- Support system administration tasks for Asterisk, FreePBX, and other PBX platforms.
- Help with call routing, IVR configuration, call center setup, and VoIP integrations.
- Provide first- and second-level technical support for VoIP-related issues.
- Monitor system performance and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
- Assist with VPN, firewall, and network security configurations.
- Document processes, troubleshooting steps, and system changes.
- Collaborate with the technical team to ensure uptime and quality of service.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Must have hands-on experience with SIP Trunks and 3CX.
- Knowledge of VoIP platforms (Asterisk, FreePBX, Elastix, Avaya, YeaStar).
- Familiarity with VoIP hardware (Grandstream, Yealink, Snom, Sangoma, Patton).
- Understanding of SIP, RTP, SRTP, and other VoIP protocols.
- Basic networking knowledge (Cisco, Mikrotik, Ubiquiti).
- Exposure to Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian) and Windows Server.
- Willingness to learn PHP, Bash scripting, and API integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
- At least average communication skills, with confidence in speaking to clients and explaining technical issues in clear terms.
- Ability to document technical processes and present information clearly to both technical and non-technical clients.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in VoIP support or system administration.
- Proven ability to configure and troubleshoot SIP Trunks and 3CX.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a technical team.
- Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with CRM or Office 365/Teams/Zoom integration.
- Familiarity with call detail records (CDR) management.
- Basic knowledge of database management (MySQL).
