About the Role:

The Accounting Assistant – Inventory supports both the accounting and inventory control functions by ensuring accurate tracking, recording, and reporting of inventory-related transactions. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory records, reconciling stock levels, processing inventory adjustments, and assisting with cost accounting activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced with inventory systems and accounting procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory & Accounting Functions

  • Maintain and update inventory records in the accounting and inventory management systems
  • Reconcile inventory between physical counts, warehouse records, and accounting ledgers
  • Process inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and write-offs
  • Assist with month-end and year-end inventory close procedures
  • Support cost accounting tasks such as calculating landed costs, updating standard costs, and reviewing variances

Stock Control & Reporting

  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory counts; investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare inventory reports, stock summaries, and aging analyses
  • Monitor and track slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged inventory
  • Verify supplier invoices related to inventory purchases and match them with receiving documents
  • Work with warehouse and purchasing teams to ensure accurate documentation

Administrative Support

  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for inventory and accounting documents
  • Assist auditors by providing inventory and cost accounting documentation
  • Perform general data entry, recordkeeping, and administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or inventory control
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Fishbowl, Oracle)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
