Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Japanese Chef to prepare authentic Japanese cuisine, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and quality. The Japanese Chef will be responsible for menu planning, ingredient selection, food preparation, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness while showcasing traditional Japanese culinary techniques such as sushi, sashimi, tempura, ramen, and teppanyaki.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook authentic Japanese dishes, including sushi, sashimi, tempura, ramen, teppanyaki, and other traditional and modern Japanese specialties.
  • Develop and innovate menu items that reflect Japanese culinary traditions and seasonal ingredients.
  • Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet company standards.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and assist in training them in Japanese cooking techniques.
  • Manage inventory, order fresh ingredients, and ensure proper storage of all items.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor food costs and portion control to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
  • Engage with customers when required, explaining dishes and offering recommendations.
  • Stay updated on Japanese food trends, techniques, and cultural practices.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Japanese Chef or similar role in a restaurant or hotel.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, techniques, and traditions.
  • Ability to prepare sushi and sashimi with precision and artistry.
  • Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification (preferred but not required).
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Skills Required:

  • Expertise in Japanese cooking techniques (sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, ramen, etc.)
  • Creativity in menu design and food presentation
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer-oriented attitude
