JOB SUMMARY:

Provide comprehensive legal support and strategic guidance for non-life insurance operations. This role requires offering expert advice on regulatory matters, actively assisting the underwriting and claims departments, effectively managing disputes, and ensuring strict compliance with industry laws and corporate governance standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Legal Advisory & Risk Management

  • Provide legal advice on a broad range of issues affecting non-life insurance operations, including product development, policy wordings, claims, and coverage disputes.
  • Review and draft insurance contracts, reinsurance agreements, customer-facing documents, and internal policies.
  • Identify legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate potential liabilities.

_ Claims & Dispute Management _

  • Support the claims team in handling complex or high-value claims, particularly those involving litigation or arbitration.
  • Manage external counsel in litigation and dispute resolution processes.
  • Assess potential liabilities and assist with legal strategy and settlement negotiations.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Monitor changes in insurance law, data protection, and other relevant regulations (e.g., Solvency II, IDD, GDPR).
  • Ensure the company's practices are compliant with local and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Liaise with insurance regulators and industry bodies as required.

Corporate Legal Support

  • Support corporate governance matters, including drafting board resolutions and maintaining corporate records.
  • Assist with M&A transactions, partnerships, or business restructuring as required.

Training & Internal Awareness

  • Provide training to internal departments on legal and regulatory matters, including contract law, claims handling, and compliance.
  • Promote a culture of legal awareness across the organization.
