
Operations Head

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for all warehousing and logistics operations that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
- Lead the long-term planning for network design, including warehouse locations, fleet management, and last-mile delivery partnerships.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements to identify opportunities for operational improvement and innovation.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget for the operations department, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI on all initiatives.
2. Warehousing & Inventory Management:
- Oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Implement and enforce best-in-class inventory management practices to ensure accuracy, minimize shrinkage, and optimize stock levels.
- Direct the use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other technology to streamline processes and improve visibility.
- Ensure all warehouse facilities comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
3. Logistics & Transportation:
- Manage the entire transportation network, including inbound logistics (supplier to warehouse) and outbound logistics (warehouse to customer).
- Optimize delivery routes, modes of transport, and carrier selection to reduce costs and improve delivery times.
- Negotiate and manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, carriers, and delivery partners.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations, such as on-time delivery rates, transit times, and transport costs.
4. Team Management & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a large team of managers, supervisors, and front-line staff across multiple locations.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide opportunities for professional development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety within the operations team.
- Lead recruitment efforts to build a high-performing and scalable team.
5. Process Improvement & Technology:
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing operational efficiencies through Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.
- Evaluate, select, and implement new technologies (e.g., WMS, TMS, automation, robotics) to enhance productivity and reduce manual effort.
- Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all key functions within the department.
- Utilize data analytics to make informed decisions and drive operational excellence.
6. Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure all operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including transportation, labor, and safety laws.
- Maintain high standards for product handling, quality control, and customer service.
- Develop and implement contingency plans for unforeseen events (e.g., supply chain disruptions, natural disasters).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale, multi-site operations.
- Deep expertise in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions.
- Knowledge of Lean principles, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
