A. General Description

The Systems Operations Engineer is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing the electric distribution network to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient power delivery. The role involves real-time operations, load management, switching coordination, outage restoration, and compliance with operating standards and regulatory requirements.

B. List of Responsibilities

· Dispatches/assigns line operation crew to specific jobs and directs/guides them in performing their tasks.

· Decides appropriate actions to take online/substation troubles.

· Directs switching on and off of all MORE substation.

· Attends consumer's complaints/queries related to line/electrical troubles by phone or through personal visits.

· Schedules priority of complaint for emergency repair.

· Prepares daily time report and accomplishment report.

· Ensures that the crew exercises and observes safety rules.

· Controls and issues line materials, stocked at Mabini compound, for emergency use.

· Checks/monitors conditions of tool aid equipment and recommends repair/ replacement when the need arises.

· Maintains necessary records and schedule of crew performance.

· Trains and develops manpower skill of crew personnel.

· Conducts performance evaluation of personnel under the unit and submits rating to the Manager, Line Construction and Operation.

Occasional Duties:

· Works outside of duty hours in times of emergencies.

· Acts as the Officer-in-Charge of the Division in the absence of the Manager, LCO.

· Conducts safety lectures.

· Prepares and submits accident report to the Manager, LCO, Deputy Head, Network Operations and Head, Network Operations.

· Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Manager, LCO from time to time.

C. Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Electrical Engineer
  • With at least 1-2 years experience in the Distribution or Energy Industry
  • Must be flexible and adaptable
  • Excellent critical-thinking skills in providing immediate resolutions to various situations.
  • High sense of initiative and resourcefulness
  • In-depth knowledge of power system operations, load dispatching, SCADA, and switching procedures.
